Would you like to help maintain the wood? All you need is a pair of sturdy shoes (we use sharp tools) and suitable clothing for the weather. There's a friendly bunch of people who all love the wood and enjoy looking after it. You can just turn up at the next event listed here or call Gill on 077666 10376 or gilletaylor@gmail.com.

We're always looking for new members to join us in helping to maintain this beautiful woodland. One of our main tasks is coppicing which involves cutting down small treees to a slanted stump. This benefits the woodland in many ways. The tree itself can live much longer, more sunlight can reach the ground stimulated increased growth of flowers which benefits insects and birds and the branches can be used for allotments, fencing and charcoal. An enjoyable side activity is creating little woven domes or teepees ove the stumps to protect the new growth from being eaten by deer. This can get quite sculptural and creative if you choose!
