The aim of the Reffley Wood Volunteer Group is to enjoy, maintain, and encourage others to use, Reffley Wood for the benefit of the whole community. We currently hold events on a  Sunday every month. The Creative Sundays are suitable for families and individuals. Previous events have included an Easter Egg Hunt, Treasure Hunt and a Bear Hunt. We have made clay creatures (now hidden in the wood), dens, giant birds’ nests and a tree created out of sticks and logs on the ground in the main clearing.

We also carry out woodland maintenance and wildlife surveys which we call our Woodland Workouts. Soon we will be holding Woodland Workouts on various days throughout the month. Dates will be posted on the Events page or you can sign up for our email newsletter.

We carry out maintenance in the wood such as coppicing or rhododendron clearance. It’s fun, very friendly and helps get you active and fit. The essential tea break and biscuit half way through ensures it isn’t too much hard work. No tools required – just sturdy shoes as we do use sharp tools.

We are currently looking for feedback on where people would like to have additional benches. If you have ideas to share or if you would like to sponsor a bench, maybe in memory of someone special then please get in touch.

Check out the Events page for up to date information.

If you would like to get involved with the RWVG in any way, from organising or publicising events, getting your hands dirty or coming up with ideas to improve the wood, then please get in touch. Everyone welcome.
